TULANE: A returning letterwinner... enters fall camp as the backup at tight end.

2007 (FRESHMAN): Played in 10 games and earned four starts... caught three passes for 18 yards, including a career-best 10-yard reception at East Carolina... made his first career start at UAB... enrolled at Tulane for the spring semester and participated in spring drills.

PRIOR TO TULANE: Attended Fork Union Military Academy in Fall 2006... played tight end, defensive end and right tackle for coach John Shuman... caught 12 passes for 200-plus yards and three touchdowns... was a member of the Dean's List.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played just one year of high school football, seeing time at tight end and right tackle for coach Kenny Sears... as a senior, helped the Wolves go undefeated during the regular season, win the District 4-5A title and advance to the state playoffs... named a Top 25 Recruit in Louisiana by Louisiana Magazine... also lettered four years in basketball... off the field, was a TOPPS graduate.

PERSONAL: Majoring in strategy and entrepreneurship... born Tyler Compton Helm on April 15, 1988, in Baton Rouge, La.... one of five children and the only son of Mike and Kellie Helm... his father played linebacker at Georgia Tech.
