Final Stats

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - J.P. Losman threw three touchdown passes and Jovon Jackson ran for 183 yards and two TDs as Tulane held off a late rally to defeat UAB 38-24 on Saturday.

Tulane (4-6, 2-4 Conference USA) played without star senior tailback Mewelde Moore, who is out with a broken hand. But Jackson, a sophomore making his first start, carried 26 times and broke an 85-yard scoring run in the final minute to clinch the victory.

Chris Bush had touchdown catches of 25 and 35 yards and Roydell Williams had a 78-yard scoring catch to help Tulane break a five-game losing streak.

UAB (4-6, 3-3) was led by Corey White, who rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown. Roddy White had six catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns for the Blazers.

Roddy White's second scoring catch, a 61-yarder from Curtis Falany, brought UAB to within 31-24 with 5:55 left in the game.

Tulane drove near midfield, but Jackson fumbled and UAB's Kyle Bissinger recovered at the Tulane 49. The Blazers drove to the 2, but Trey Chaney fumbled and Tulane's Sean Lucas recovered.

A few plays later, Jackson broke his 85-yarder.

Losman completed 16 of 33 passes for 255 yards and hit several big passes while scrambling under pressure.

The game was tied 17-17 when Losman eluded heavy pressure and found Williams for a 78-yard scoring play. A 26-yard completion from Losman to Williams set up Bush's second scoring catch of the day, a 35-yarder that gave Tulane a 31-17 lead with 11:21 left in the game.

Blazers quarterback Chris Williams struggled in his third start, completing only 11 of 30 passes with two interceptions.
